The Borussia Dortmund star has been ruled out indefinitely through ‘metabolic disturbances’.

German outlet Suddeutsche Zeitung reports the German World Cup hero has been diagnosed with the rare muscle disorder which could ruin his promising career.

Symptoms of Myopathy include muscle weakness and fatigue, and it can delay the resting period needed for an athlete after strenuous exercise.

Getting the rare disorder later in life can be down to thyroid disease – where not enough hormones are produced – or issues in the adrenal glands.
